Most people have childhood Easter memories of delicious warm hot cross buns, including The Grounds of Alexandria executive chef Paul McGrath who is serving up his unique twist on the Aussie favourite throughout the holiday.
Paul said, this year his hot cross buns will bring childhood nostalgia with a hint of the unexpected. “Hot cross buns bring back the fondest childhood memories, but surprising flavours have been added that will leave guests wowed and wanting more.”
Paul has put a twist on an old favourite by infusing unusual fruits, like hawthorns, persimmon and Thai logan berries with classics like dates and sultanas. The fruit mix is soaked in a spiced sugar syrup for up to six months, ensuring the buns are juicy and packed full of flavour.
